Having started its solo journey in January this year, Fiat India has opened 90 new dealerships so far and is looking to hit the century mark by the end of this year. The company opened two dealership outlets in Mumbai and one in Navi Mumbai on Monday.
Fiat had scrapped joint dealerships with Tata Motors early this year, ending their six-yearold partnership in sales operations while retaining a common manufacturing facility in Pune.
Nagesh Basavanhalli, president and managing director, Fiat Chrysler India Operation, said there would be a series of series of new launches beginning next year.
The Italian car maker has plans to expand its sales network to 200 outlets in the next two years, and is angling for a 5% market share in India. It plans to launch nine models from Fiat and Chrysler brands by 2016.
Fiat currently sells two models—the midsize sedan Linea and hatchback Punto — and holds a market share of less than 1%. It is working on a miniSUV and small car for India.
