Ford India grows at 36% in May, exports rise 46% while domestic sales up 17%

Ford India on Thursday posted a 36% jump in total sales -- from 17,279 unit in May 2016 to 23,503 units in May this year.
Domestic sales were up 16.64% to 6,742 units last month as against 5,780 units in May last year, the company said in a statement.
Exports during the month grew by 45.76% to 16,761 units as compared to 11,499 units in May 2016, it added.
Ford India’s newly appointed managing director Anurag Mehrotra said there were uncertainties in the market due to final notification on goods and service tax, to be rolled out from next month, but the company has continued to grow faster than the industry.
The company last month also joined hands with five tech firms for its in-car infotainment system -- music streaming app Hungama, AccuWeather, news aggregator InShorts, MapMyIndia for navigation maps and PParke for assistance in finding parking spots in major cities.
