After meeting Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday, French car maker Peugeot Citreon is said to be in talks with the Gujarat government for setting up a manufacturing plant in the state.
A delegation of Peugeot Group of Companies led by Gregoir Olivier, CEO, Asia and Fredric Faber, managing director, India, met chief minister Narendra Modi for the same, a release issued by the Gujarat government said.
However, Gujarat is only one of the three states shortlisted by the company to set up it’s first plant in India, Gregoir said, (Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh being the other two), adding, that the board of director will take the final decision.
Peugeot is Europe’s second-largest auto maker. The company had reported a turnover of Rs 3.1 lakh crore in 2010.
