The main accused in the July 18 arson at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant has been arrested and sent to five-day police custody.
Jiya Lal, whose suspension led to the arson and rioting, was arrested on Wednesday.
Today he was produced before a Magistrate in Gurgaon, who sent him to police custody.
The police argued that "Lal had instigated his colleagues which led to the violence" at the Manesar plant.
Lal was suspended in the morning of July 18 for allegedly slapping his supervisor and was instrumental in the incident as he had asked union leaders to press before the management to revoke his suspension.
However, talks turned into hot arguments and ultimately led to the incident which resulted the death of HR manager Awanish Dev and grievous injuries to around 100 workers of the company.
