Japanese automaker Toyota will recall 8,700 units of its premium sedan Corolla Altis and Camry in India to rectify faulty power window switches as part of a bigger global recall of 7.4 million vehicles.

The recall will cover Corolla Altis sold during July  30, 2008-December 31, 2008 and Camry sold during September 1, 2006-July 31, 2008.

Toyota Motor Corporation’s Indian arm Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a 89:11 venture between TMC and Kirloskar group, will conduct the recall campaign on a voluntary basis, a statement issued by the company said.

“On certain Corolla Altis and Camry models of the specified years, the power window master switch may begin to feel notchy or become inoperative. Owners of the involved vehicles, covered under this recall campaign will receive a notification from Toyota,” the release said.

The recall campaign will be conducted from November onwards across all authorised Toyota dealers in India.
