M&M arm kickstarts 2-wheeler exports

Barely two-and-a-half years since the Mahindra group entered into the two-wheeler business by way of its acquisition of Kinetic Motors, the company has taken its scooters and motorcycles abroad.

Mahindra Two-wheelers recently kicked off exports of its products, said a senior official. "We have shipped a few thousands of our two-wheelers to countries such as Sri Lanka, Kenya and Cuba. We are scouting for more export opportunities," Devendra Shinde, vice-president (marketing) told HT.

The company has identified Africa, Latin America and SAARC region as potential overseas markets for its range of scooters and motorcycles.

Mahindra Two-wheelers recently announced it will participate in the 125-cc category of the MotoGP motorcycle grand prix in the 2011 season.
