Mahindra 2 Wheelers, part of the $ 7.1 billion Mahindra Group, on Thursday announced its foray in motorcycle segment with a launch of two motor bikes in Mumbai.
While Mojo, with its Italian sports bike design, will target the premium bike segment, Stallio will target the mid-segment. Both the bikes are expected to hit the markets within three months.
Mahindra Mojo, priced at R1.75 lakh (ex showroom Pune) is a 300 cc, 26 BHP at 8500 rotation per minute (RPM) high-end bike. A 4V DOHC engine with drives Mojo with a powerful maximum torque of 24 NM at 7000 rpm.
“Mojo is the fastest Indian bike,” said Anand Mahindra, vice chairman and managing director, Mahindra Group. Mojo boasts of electronic fuel injection and features a 6-speed gearbox. Ducati Energia of Italy developed the electronic fuel injection system for the bike.
On the other hand, Stallio will target the 125 cc mid-market segments with an affordable price. Stalio is priced between R41,199 and R44,699 (ex showroom Pune) for its different models.
Mahindra Group has roped in actor Aamir Khan as a brand ambassador. Stallio comes with a four-year manufacturer’s warranty.
M&M had acquired an 80 per cent stake in Kinetic Motors in 2008. After that the company forayed in the scooter segment. The two-wheeler segment for the company grew by a 279 per cent year on year in August.
