If you have driven the nice, cozy box from Mahindra called the TUV300, you would know why the indigenous automaker had to kick up the engine.

When launched, a Mahindra TUV300 came with 1.5-litre mHawk 80 diesel engine that generated 84bhp power and sent 230Nm torque to the wheels.

But after some reported the compact SUV to be underpowered, Mahindra chose to give the big body a bigger heart. Though the engine remains the same 1.5-litre mHawk, it has been tuned to churn an additional 20PS.

Mahindra may also offer a choice between manual and AMT versions.

Though the prices of the new TUV300 could be marginally raised, it may still remain under Rs 7.50 lakh to not bite the share of the new NuvoSport which starts at Rs 7.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The TUV300 remains the same from outside, the only change may be that of the mHawk100 badge below the A-pillar. (MahindraTUV300.com)

This sets the TUV300 at par with the NuvoSport which also comes with the same 1.5-litre mHawk diesel mill delivering 100PS.

The only cosmetic change in the new TUV300 will be the mHawk100 badge.

Since its launch in September, Mahindra has sold over 18,000 units of TUV300, as some market was also taken by its younger sibling the KUV100 clocking almost the same number since its launch in January.

So if you were confused which one to buy - the one with better looks or more power - Mahindra has just made the game easy.
