Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra will launch five models during the current fiscal year, said Pawan Goenka, president, auto & farm equipment Sector, M&M.
The World SUV, codenamed W201, will be launched during the upcoming festive season. Sports utility vehicles from M&M's South Korean subsidy Ssangyong stable will also be launched in 2011-12. Another major launch will be Reva NXR, a four-seater electric car from Mahindra Reva, the electric vehicle subsidiary of M&M.
Two variants of M&M passenger car - Verito Refresh and a sub-four metre - will also be launched soon. The R&D wings of M&M and Ssangyong are working closely to develop platforms, which will be used by both companies. "We are in the process of finalising product plan for both M&M and Ssangyong," he said.
Mahindra is increasing its engine production capacity to meet demand, especially for its pick-ups. The company would invest Rs 5,000 crore in capital expenditure, mainly for product development and capacity expansion, in the next three years, he said.
The Mahindra Navistar commercial vehicle joint venture will launch buses in the next fiscal year, he added.
