Ahead of the Budget presentation on Friday, the country’s top car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has asked the government not to roll back the entire stimulus package at once. The move was likely to hamper economic growth, Maruti Suzuki India Chairman RC Bhargava said on Monday. “If the entire stimulus is withdrawn all at once, it may not lead to economic growth happening in the way it should happen.”

“Somebody has to take a balanced view (as to) what will lead to economic growth and what will also lead to financial stability,” Bhargava said

Asked about the robust growth of the auto sector in the past few months, Bhargava said, “The comparison with 2008-09 is not a good way of comparing because that is very low base. If we look at a two-year figure, you would probably come out with a figure of 8-9 per cent.”
