Maruti Suzuki India Ltd would resume production at its violence-hit Manesar factories on August 21, a month after the plant was locked out, senior Maruti officials said.
Almost 600 workers at the twin Manesar factories went on a rampage on July 18, killing senior HR executive Awanish Kumar Dev and injuring at least 100 others.
The move coincides with Suzuki Motor Corporation chairman Osamu Suzuki's 5-day India visit beginning August 22. Suzuki will also visit Gujarat where Maruti is setting up a new plant.
In a meeting with the top management on Monday, the Haryana government promised to deploy the rapid action force to ensure the safety of workers and managers at the plant.
Maruti has also decided to do away with contract workers at the shop-floor.
