Maruti Suzuki launched a special version of its best-selling small-car -- Alto K10 Plus edition -- at Rs 3.40 lakh (ex showroom New Delhi).
The K10 Plus is a cosmetically-enhanced VX variant of the K10 with some add-ons like rear spoiler, plastic door protectors, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs, and chrome accents on the beltline, foglamp sockets, wheelarches, etc.
Alto K10 is powered by a 1000cc petrol engine mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox, to send 68PS of power @ 6,000rpm and 90Nm at 3,500rpm.
Maruti Suzuki’s most-selling car, Alto clocks 16,000 to 20,000 units in sales every month, but has been facing tough competition new rivals like Renault Kwid, Datsun rediGo and Hyundai Eon in the under-four-lakh segment.
Maruti Suzuki’s engineering head CV Raman had told HT that the drop in sales was due to not enough supply as compared to the demand in the market. Some reports also said the new edition was launched to clear the inventory before Maruti launches a facelift of the K10.
Recently, French carmaker Renault also launched a special flamboyant edition of Kwid called the Kwid Climber at Rs 4.30 lakh.
