Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi has announced that it will introduce an automatic version of the Pajero Sport SUV in India sometime around September-October 2014.
The Pajero Sport is currently sold here with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel motor which comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The automatic version is likely to get a five-speed auto ’box mated to the same motor.
The carmaker’s current global portfolio comprises around 50 percent SUVs and crossovers and by 2016, the company expects to take it to around 65 percent.
"Emerging markets including India are our priority. Product-wise, we are going to put more SUVs in such markets," a company source said.
Company sources also added that it may bring two SUVs from its existing portfolio to our showrooms by 2016.
