One more O for M&M! Logan turns Verito
Mahindra has renamed the Logan as the ‘Verito’. HT reports.autos Updated: Apr 25, 2011 23:17 IST
Mahindra has renamed the Logan as the ‘Verito’. With this new name, the entry-level midsize sedan Logan, which was, in India, originally a joint venture product of the erstwhile Mahindra-Renault partnership, becomes part of Mahindra range of vehicles with a name ending with an ‘O’. Inspired by the success of Scorpio and Bolero, Mahindra now follows a naming convention under which its vehicles will have names ending with an ‘O’, such as Xylo, Maxximo, Gio and Genio.
With sales falling Mahindra and Renault agreed to end their five-year long partnership in April 2010, with the former picking up latter’s 49% stake in the Mahindra Renault Private Ltd (MRPL) joint venture. Under an agreement with Renault, Mahindra is still allowed to make the Logan with its badge.
“We are delighted to announce that the Logan will now be called the Verito. It will sport the Mahindra badge and emblem,” said a statement from the company.
Mahindra may go ahead with its plan to trim the size of the vehicle to gain excise duty benefit. The Logan was retailed at a price range of Rs 4.7 to Rs 6.5 lakh.
