Porsche delivered a Limited Edition 911 R to a Bengaluru customer on Friday. That’s one of the 991 units of the car the German high-performance sports carmaker has produced globally.
The 911 R is a two-door sports car powered by a 4.0 litre, six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine which produces 500 HP power when mated to a six-speed sports transmission.
What more? It can touch 100 kph in 3.8 seconds and can go up to 323 kph max.
Porsche 911 is a heritage model born on the track in the 1960s and has advanced over the past five decades. The new 911 R pays tribute to the road-homologated racing car from 1967.
The carbon-fibre bonnet and wings, a roof made of magnesium, and use of lightweight plastic for the rear windscreen as well as the side windows brings down the weight of the 911 R dramatically. The limited edition, at 1,370 kg, is the lightest model of the series.
Porsche India director Pavan Shetty said the 911 has set the standard for generations after the ground-breaking model was first introduced in the 1960s.
Porsche India did not reveal the price tag of the car, since its not available for sale. But according to market sources, the owner Boopesh Reddy must have shelled out close to Rs 3 crore (excluding taxes) for the limited edition supercar.
Do you want to buy one too? Good luck trying, as the carmaker says there’s no unit available for sale in the near future.
