Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd. (SMIPL) launched the Gixxer SF today.

The bike, priced at Rs.83,439 (ex-showroom, Delhi), is a fully faired version of Suzuki's flagship motorcycle, the Gixxer.

The Gixxer SF is an aerodynamically faired bike and has been developed in the same wind tunnel where Suzuki develops its MotoGP machines.

The bike has a 155cc, 4 stroke, single cylinder liquid cooled engine, which is mated to a five speed gearbox and churns out 14.8 ps of power at 8,000 RPM, while yielding 14Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. The same engine also powers the regular naked Gixxer.

The Gixxer has been given this sporty touch as Suzuki looks to target 21 to 25 age group segment.

"Young India is driving growth in the 150cc bike category, a segment which has witnessed consistent growth in the motorcycle market. Suzuki is looking at expanding its presence and appeal among young customers with products that address their desire for style, performance and mileage," said Mr.Atul Gupta, Executive VP, SMIPL

The SF will come in two colours: Glass Sparkle Black and Pearl Mirage White. Apart from this, a special MotoGP version will be launched to commemorate Suzuki's return to MotoGP. This will sport Suzuki's 'Racing Blue' and will be priced at Rs. 84,939 (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The main competition for this bike shall be the 150cc Yamaha Fazer, which has a higher price tag. Suzuki had plans to sell around one lakh units of the normal Gixxer in a year and have managed to sell 45,000 units in the first six months.
