On the back of a 51% surge in Jaguar Land Rover sales, Tata Motors global sales including that of its subsidiaries grew 26% in March at 139,655 units over the year-ago period. In terms of cumulative sales for the fiscal, the company reported a rise of 16% at 1,252,173 compared to the corresponding period in 2010-11.
Besides JLR, Tata Motors group sale includes sales volume of commercial vehicle and passenger car business units, truck and bus sales of Tata Daewoo and Tata Hispano Carrocera range. Globally, Tata commercial vehicles sales last fiscal almost touched 600,000 units registering 17% growth while passenger vehicles reported 14% growth at 652,246 units.
In March, JLR clocked 36,471 units. Land Rover sales grew 53% at 31,128 while Jaguar sales grew 42% at 5343 units in March. JLR sales in the financial year 2011-12 is up 29% at 314,433 units.
“Cumulative sales of Jaguar are 54,039 numbers, higher by 2 percent, while cumulative sales of Land Rover are 260,394 numbers, higher by 37%,” the company said.
