Shares of Tata Motors on Friday surged by over 3% as the company's global sales increased 21% in July to 1,01,605 units over year-ago period.
Buoyed by the robust numbers, shares of the company opened strong and soon gained 3.27% to Rs 243.15 on the BSE.
At the National Stock Exchange, the stock moved up by 3.33% to Rs 243.30.
The scrip was the top performer on the Sensex, which was trading 123.57 points higher at 1040 hrs.
On the volume front, 5.13 lakh shares of the company changed hands on the BSE, while more than 35 lakh shares were traded on the NSE.
Tata Motors, in a statement on Thursday, said sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were at 26,921 units in July, up 41% from the same month last year.
While sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand stood last month at 4,064 units, Land Rover sales were at 22,857 units, it had said.
