If you’ve booked the Nano and still haven’t checked, it is time to find out whether Lady Luck has smiled on you.

Tata Motors on Tuesday announced that it has completed the lottery to select the first 1 lakh owners of the Rs 1-lakh car from among the 2,06,703 final list of applicants.

The first Nanos would be delivered beginning July middle, said company sources. There was no official comment available.

Deliveries to the 55,021 retainees will begin after deliveries are completed to the winners. Retainees are applicants who have indicated on the forms that they would like to retain their booking amounts with the company, even if they do not get selected among the first 100,000 allottees.

Booking amounts of unsuccessful applicants who had not exercised this option were being returned.

Dealerships and company representatives are going to inform the lucky winners soon. You can also log on to the website, tatanano.com, and enter your booking application number to know whether you have been lucky.

Tata Motors will pay an interest of 8.5 per cent on the booking amount to retainees if the car is delivered within two years from the date of allotment (June 23, 2009) and 8.75 per cent if the car is delivered after two years from the date of allotment.

As announced at the launch on March 23, winners were selected through a computerised random selection process. The company had said that the process would be completed within 60 days of the closure of booking on April 25.
