The Audi A8L is our current favourite in this super luxury segment but we suggest you wait for the W12 engine which will be launched shortly. This will give an amazing combination of luxury and performance.

Q I am scouting for a luxury car for R1-2.5 crore. I have shortlisted the BMW 7-series, Audi A8L and the Mercedes S500, but I can’t make up my mind on the final buy.

QWhat should I do to avoid tyre bursts?

Suresh

A The single most important way to prolong tyre life and keep them in good shape is to ensure that your tyre pressure is always correct. As a precaution, tyres should be replaced every four years or 40,000 km. Periodic rotation and check up for tyres are a must and it is good practice to rotate tyres every 2,500 to 3,000 km or every two months.

The most neglected part of the tyre-wheel assembly is the rim and a tyre that sits on a rusted or bent rim may get damaged. It is advisable, once a year, to dismantle the assembly to check the inner casing, and the rim for rusts and cracks. This helps prolong rim and tyre life as well.

QWhich would make the better buy between the Hyosung GT650R and the upcoming Kawasaki Ninja 650? Also, what are the advantages of a parallel twin engine over a V-twin?
Kunal Gandhi

A Basic differences between a parallel twin and V-twin are a) the way the engine cylinders are placed within the engine, b) the manner in which each engine delivers its power, torque, and c) the exhaust note.

We suggest you steer clear of the Hyosung GT650R and wait for Kawasaki to bring in its 650cc Ninja, a bike that will offer better reliability, quality and technology, apart from being better value for your money too.

Q I’m scouting for a stylish performance bike in the 150cc and over segment. Between the Pulsar 150 DTS-i / 180 DTS-i / Discover 150 DTS-i/ Pulsar 220 and Hero Honda Karizma, which is best?

Nikunj Rathi

AFrom the bikes shortlisted by you, we suggest you go in for the Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i.

Q I want a 150 cc bike that can return about 60 kpl. Will the Bajaj Discover 150 DTS-i give me this kind of fuel efficiency? If not, what’s the best alternative?

Omkar Sathaye

A No 150 cc bike will deliver a mileage of 60 kpl. You could consider the 110cc Honda CB Twister if you require such good fuel economy from a motorcycle.
