Planning to buy a new car here are few options for you, go for it.

I am planning to buy a new car within a Rs 6.5 lakh-budget and I have shortlisted the Ford Figo diesel and the Maruti Swift VDi. Which makes a better buy in terms of space and performance? I drive around 1,300 km every month.

The Ford Figo diesel is the best diesel in its class today. It is more spacious and gives effortless performance. It is far more comfortable than the Swift and feels a size bigger. For your budget, you can get the fully loaded Titanium model which offers outstanding value for money.

I am 68 years old and have just parted company with my Ford Ikon 1.6 petrol after four years of happy driving. My usage is confined to about 30 km a week. Every year I drive to hilly spots in Uttarakhand. I have shortlisted the Hyundai i20 Magna and the Accent petrol. Please recommend a buy between these two cars or any other as you may deem fit.

Go for the i20, as it is much nicer to drive than the Accent, which is now an outdated model. The i20 has more power than the Figo but it still has a 1.2-litre engine which is not ideal for driving in the hills.
You could consider the Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 which has a strong 95 bhp engine and should be within your budget. Besides, the Grande Punto has terrific ride and handling and is a very safe and tough car which makes it well suited to your environment.

I want to buy a petrol hatchback for my family. It will be my first car. I like the Chevrolet Beat more than the Ford Figo but am considering the Hyundai i10 Sportz and Maruti Swift VXi as well. Which one is best in terms of ease of driving, low maintenance, rear seat comfort and five-year reliability? I can stretch my budget by Rs 50,000 for a good car. Please advise.

If you are considering a petrol hatchback for the family, we suggest you look at the Swift for several reasons. The new 1.2 K-series engine is one of the best around, the car is more spacious than the Beat and is much nicer to drive than the Figo which, though more spacious, is not as economical. Overall, the Swift is the best all-rounder.
