Europe’s largest carmaker Volkswagen on Tuesday launched a limited edition of Polo GT called the Polo GT Sport in India.
The new GT Sport comes in either a 105PS, 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine or a 110PS, 1.5-litre TDI engine. Prices are Rs 9.11 lakh and Rs 9.21 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Delhi).
Besides the retuned engines, the car gets cosmetic updates like a glossy black spoiler, 16-inch Portago alloy wheels, glossy black roof and a GT Sport foil on the sides. Inside the cabin, the GT Sport gets leatherette finished GT sport embossed on the fabric, besides minor tweaks here and there.

The GT badge has always instilled the pride of owing the best, and the Polo GT Sport edition takes it a notch higher further increasing the sport quotient of the vehicle. With this offering, we are providing our consumers with an option to choose a sportier variant of the most loved hatchback the Polo GT.”
The Polo GT Sport is available in two color options -- Flash red and Candy White, across all Volkswagen showrooms in India.
Besides the GT Sport, the carmaker also has a hot hatch in its stable -- a 195PS, 1.8 litre petrol engine mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox, priced at Rs 25.99 lakh.
With the GT Sport, the company has joined a list of other mass-market automakers who have launched sports versions of their hatches recently. Maruti Suzuki launched Baleno RS in March, Ford launched the Figo Sports and the Figo Aspire Sports last week, and Tata Motors will come up with the Tamo Racemo by 2019.
