Europe's largest car manufacturer Volkswagen on Tuesday launched its maiden small car Polo here. Offered both in petrol and diesel engine options and priced between Rs 4.3 lakh and Rs 6.7 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi), Polo will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift, Ritz, Hyundai i20, Fiat Grande Punto and Skoda Fabia.
"The Polo has received an overwhelming response from customers when it was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo last month and we are confident that they will love driving it too,” said Neeraj Garg, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd.
“India is a key market for our overall strategic growth plans and with launch of the New Polo, it affirms our commitment to offer the best quality products to our Indian customers at affordable prices,” he said.
Deliveries of the 1.2-litre, 75 bhp Polo petrol variant will begin March 2010 onwards across all VW dealerships while the 1.2-litre diesel variant will be available to customers from May 2010.
