Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, on Saturday, called upon the people of Talwandi Sabo to teach a lesson to the Congress that believed in divisive politics.
While addressing gatherings of people at Raman Mandi, Ramasra and Tarkhanwala villages in favour of SAD-BJP candidate for Talwandi Sabo byelection, Jeet Mohinder Sidhu, the chief minister termed the Congress party as the biggest enemy of the country and the state, because it was least sensitised to the problems of any class, be it farmers, traders, labourers, employees or industrialists.
Badal said that Congress was No. 1 enemy of Punjab and decade-long misrule of the Congress- led UPA government has broken the backbone of Punjab's economy.
Squarely blaming the previous UPA government for the woes of the peasantry in the state, Badal said that due to the ill-conceived policies of the previous government at the Centre, farmers of the state were today reeling under debt. Now, the Congress will sure be decimated from the country due to its wrong policies.
However, Badal said, with the formation of the NDA government at the Centre, days of discrimination with the state were over.
The chief minister said that the SAD-BJP alliance implemented pro-poor initiatives like free atta-dal, Shagun, and old-age pension schemes besides free power to farmers.
Badal thanked the people of Punjab for giving a historic mandate to the SAD-BJP alliance for serving the people of the state for the second time, adding that the government would make all-out efforts to accomplish its agenda to usher in an era of unprecedented overall development and cherish the aspirations of the people.
Jeet Mohinder Sidhu said that the victory in this poll would strengthen him to contribute in the development of Talwandi Sabo more effectively.
He said that he has decided to fight this byelection as he has many dreams for the development of Talwandi Sabo which could be fulfilled only after becoming a part of the government.
He appealed to voters of Talwandi Sabo to vote for the SAD-BJP to ensure speedy development of the area.
