Film goers who reached a local multiplex to watch the first show of the Punjabi movie 'Sadda Haq' on Friday were disappointed and raised a protest after they came to know about the ban on the film.

A group of movie-lovers protested at the ticket window of the Fun Cinema Hall after they did not get the tickets of the movie slated to be released on Friday. The audience moved towards the cinemas with their tickets booked in advance. Some wanted to buy tickets on the spot. But the state government imposed a ban on the movie by taking a late evening decision on Thursday, so most of the audience were not informed about the development.

Tejinder Singh, a viewer, said, “Some forces want to vitiate the atmosphere in Punjab. The ban can provoke the public as the film has been passed by the censor board, but the state government has taken a decision contrary to that. We have been waiting for the film for the last one year. The censor board took seven months to clear it. Now the Punjab government has spoiled our wait. The film should be released in the state as soon as possible.”
