Protests over the killing of a 12-year-old continued in Mansa on Wednesday with businesses deciding to shut shop.

The bandh call was given by some BJP leaders and some other organisations. A peaceful protest march was also carried out in the morning under heavy police deployment.  Near total bandh was observed in the district and the netizens worked hard with some facebook pages named Mansa being created.

Most such pages appealed for peace and wished for speedy justice for the victim's family.
BJP district president Satish Goyal said, "Such incidents need to be condemned and are far too frequent in Malerkotla. Police should take appropriate action against the culprits and make sure that such incidents are not repeated in the future."
SP (H) Rajeshwar Sidhu said, "Heavy police force was deployed to avoid any law and order issue. The march and the bandh remained peaceful."

A number of advocates and social workers have criticized any move to give communal colouring to the incident.

Advocate Nanvneet Khudania, who operates a Facebook page 'Mansa' said, "We want peace and social harmony. This is the most important lesson that we must remember."
