With the police force having blocked all the entrance points leading to the village, residents of Bhai Rupa village held a meeting in support of the Dhan Dhan Baba Bhai Roop Chandji Langar Sewa Society and concluded the religious ceremony of Akhand Path on Friday.

A heavy police force was de ployed at all the entrance points of the village to stop the entry of outsiders into the village on the apprehension of some law and order problem in the village.

Though, orgnisations such as BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan), BKU (Dakaunda) and the Bhullar community are supporting the villagers on this issue, the activists of these orgnisations didn’t attempt to enter the village keeping in view the heavy deployment of police force around the village.

Member of society Baldev Singh Bhai Rupa said that residents expressed their solidarity with the society and reiterated that they wouldn’t allow the SGPC to take possession of the land.

Mean while, all the five accused arrested for attempt to murder attack on the SGPC team during a clash in the village a few days ago are still in the jail. The hearing on their bail application is scheduled on May 26.

It may be mentioned here that the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Dhan Dhan Baba Bhai Roop Chandji Langar Sewa Society have locked horns over the issue of ownership over 161 acres of land in the village.

The SGPC claims that the land belongs to it as per the court orders whereas the society claims that the persons against whom the SGPC has won the case are not the actual owners of the land and the society was the real owner. A hearing in this case is fixed on May 31 at Phul court.
