Member of Parliament from Bathinda and union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has extended help to four-years-old boy who had lost his hearing faculty when he was one and half years old.

Sukhvir Singh of Ghuman Kalan village had fallen from bed while sleeping and suffered an internal head injury.

Nannhi Chhan, an NGO which is run by the MP herself, had organised medical treatment for the child besides transportation and accommodation in New Delhi for more than six months. The operation which cost about Rs 10 lakh was successfully completed.

"I had lost all hopes. We visited all the doctors in and around Bathinda and Mansa. Every doctor gave us some hope initially, but to no avail. Finally, a doctor told me that our son can be treated only in Delhi and that too at a high cost of treatment. My husband is a small farmer and it was not possible for us to visit Delhi," said Baljit Kaur, the child's mother.

"Then one day Harsimrat Kaur Badal came to our village to hold Sangat Darshan programme. Someone advised me to ask for help from her. Initially, I hesitated but then I decided to give it a try. I went to the Sangat Darshan and met her. She listened to my problem patiently and assured me that she will do her best to help me," said Baljit Kaur.
