The Jagraon police have launched a manhunt for Jaspreet Singh Jassa, an undertrial in the murder case of former SAD MLA from Barnala Malkiat Singh Keetu, who escaped from custody on Friday, after a court appearance here on Friday. A nephew of Keetu, Jassa, escaped from an eatery at Jagraon, when his handcuffs were reportedly removed, after he wanted to take a meal.  Jassa made good his escape, via a car.

Jassa and two other accused in the Keetu murder case were escorted by three head constables to the court. The cops have been booked for negligence.

Keetu was allegedly shot dead by Jassa and his two brothers - Harpreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh - at his residence at Bilaspur on October 29, 2012.
