After rape here on Tuesday, a bleeding minor (6) was thrown near a railway police station.
Her insensitive treatment at the hospital drove the people of Rama town to block the path of the train to Hisar at the Rama Mandi railway station in the evening. Succumbing to public pressure, the government railway police (GRP) registered a case of attempt to rape.
Both at the hospital and police station, the case was handled in a most insensitive manner. In the afternoon, volunteers of a local non-government organisation received input about a girl from a migrant family dumped near the railway station of Rama. She was bleeding from the wounds of sexual assault, and the bushes into which she was thrown were a few metres from the GRP police post.
Activists suspected gang rape with the girl and took her to the nearest Civil hospital Rama. However, male doctor on duty at the civil hospital Rama refused to admit the girl as health facility had no gynecologist. There were some Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) workers present at the hospital but no one come forward to give the first aid to the child.
Even official at Rama hospital did not bother to arrange ambulance for the child and activists were forced to took the girl at Talwandi Sabo in a personal vehicle. Again, there was no arrangement for the treatment of the girl at the Talwandi Sabo hospital and girl was finally taken to Bathinda.
Incident happened at 3 pm in afternoon but Chief Medical Officer Bathinda Ajay Sahni had no details of the case till 8:30 in the evening despite the fact that he was informed about the happening.
"I have come to know about the incident but cannot confirm if girl was raped. I have to check if it was a rape case. There was no one to treat child at Rama hospital as we have only one gynecologist for Talwandi Sabo and Rama who works three days in week at each satiation," Said Ajay Sahni.
After this reporter insisted, Ajay Sahni agreed to reconfirm it and later declared that it was a rape case.
Besides, no one from GRP was ready to come on record on the issue. Sources confirmed that the case under section 376 has been registered against the unidentified persons.
The insensitivity shown by the system forced natives of the Raman to block the Bathinda-Hisar railways line at the Rama Mandi railways station. It also stabilized the Bathinda to Hisar train at the Raman Mandi Railways station.
Till the last reports, Bathinda SSP Ravcharan singh Brar and DSP Jagdish Kumar reached at the Rama Railways station. However, train was not allowed to leave the Raman station till the last reports as natives were not ready to clear the track until no one is arrested for the crime.
