Instead of collaborating to solve the connectivity problem of residents of Nai Abadi area in Abohar with the rest of locality, across railway lines, a credit war seems to have broken out between the local MLA Sunil Jakhar and local SAD member parliament Sher Singh Ghubaya. for the grant of Rs 4 crore by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for a steel bridge for two-wheelers.

The railways, incidentally, is also contributing to the project.

Addressing a gathering at the railway yard on Thursday, Jakhar claimed that he burnt mid-night oil to get various permissions from railway authorities. He claimed that the funds were released following his persona request to the CM.

"Local SAD leader Shiv Lal Doda and MP Sher Singh are indulging in politics to take credit," he claimed.
MP Ghubaya rebuffed the charges.

"It is only on my repeated requests that Badal Sahib has approved the project and issued the grant. The foundation stone will be laid soon," he said.

The district administration, though, seems to have made up its mind on the issue. On Thursday, a foundation stone with the names of Jakhar and DRM Ambala Division AK Kathpal were removed, even as Jakhar started on the construction work of the bridge by breaking a coconut. The function was not attended by the DRM.

It has been learnt that that Fazilka DC Basant Garg had sent a communication to DRM Kathpal, advising that the function should not be held and that the names of MP (Sher Singh Ghubaya) and Balluana MLA (Gurtej Singh Ghuriana) should be displayed on the stone.

Repeated efforts to contact Fazilka DC Basant Garg proved futile.
