138 children fall ill after consuming adulterated ice-cream in MP

As many 138 children were taken ill on consuming adulterated ice cream in three villages of district Narsinghpur on Tuesday.

After consuming the ice cream children complained of vomiting. Even, some felt unconscious soon after consuming the adulterated ice cream.

The ice cream was purchased from the vendors ferrying on cycles in villages Tikra, Khamaria and Tighara of Gotegaon tehsil of the district.

The children were given primary treatment at the Gotegaon health centre. Of total 138 children, 24 children whose condition worsened were referred to the medical college hospital at Jabalpur and 8 children to the district hospital Narsinghpur. Some of the children are still being treated at the Gotegaon public health centre.

Narsinghpur district collector Naresh Pal confirmed the incident and said the number of children taken ill was 138. Of them, 73 children were discharged after treatment at the Gotegaon health centre, he said.

The food department officials have collected certain samples from various ice cream sellers in Gotegaon tehsil. Collector has ordered the officials concerned to find out the supplier of adulterated ice cream.
