Sixteen new swine flu positive cases were reported in Bhopal on Monday.
Samples of 43 suspected patients were sent to the laboratories at AIIMS Bhopal and Gwalior for tests.
Death of a man from Sagar district, who died in Bhopal a few days ago, was confirmed due to H1N1. With this, the total death toll in the district has reached 46.
Of these, 25 people were from other districts and had come here for treatment. However the official death toll in the district is 44. Since January 1, 1,295 samples have been sent for testing. Of them, 444 have tested positive.
Chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr Veena Sinha said the department was trying its best to check the spread of H1N1 and appealing people to report to the nearest hospital at the earliest. “With dip in mercury, we have again redoubled our efforts to ensure that all suspected cases are sent for testing,” she added.
In Indore, one woman from Dhar district died of H1N1 influenza on Monday.
The 44-year-old woman who was hospitalised at Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital on February 27, was a suspect case of viral infection. With the latest casualty, the total death toll due to H1N1 in Indore and around surged to 60.
