The body of a 16-year-old boy, facing trial for rape and other charges, was recovered from a toilet in a juvenile remand home in Chhatarpur on Saturday afternoon. According to the Civil Lines police, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, the boy committed suicide.

Civil Lines station officer Rajesh Banjara said the juvenile's body was found hanging from a towel.

He was facing trial on charges of rape and criminal intimidation. He was a native of Makanpura village under Dharampura police station in Panna district and had been here since June 22 as Panna does not have a juvenile home, Banjara said.

The boy's family members, the officer said, have been informed and further inquiry would be conducted in the presence of SDM after the arrival of his kin.
