A 16-year-old girl, a resident of shelter home Balika Graha in Bhopal, died under mysterious circumstances at Kamla Nagar here on Thursday. Initial investigations suggest that she had a heart attack, the police said.
The deceased, originally hailing from Dewas, was brought to the shelter home by Child Welfare Committee, after the death of her parents.
Police said on November 6, the girl had a fall while trying to grab something on an almirah, leaning on from her bed. She complained of a painful lump on her right wrist post the fall, and the caretaker took her to JP hospital. The duty doctor had sent her back trivialising the pain.
On November 7, the deceased girl had again complained of pain and was taken to the hospital. An X-ray revealed a collar bone fracture. Her shoulder was plastered temporarily and medicines were prescribed.
Ashish Bhattacharya, town inspector of Kamla Nagar, said, “On Thursday morning, she was asleep while her roommates went to school. When her caretaker tried to wake her up, she didn’t. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared her brought dead.”
Meanwhile, Ramgopal Yadav, district women empowerment officer, said that the deceased was very silent in the shelter home. “She was raped by her father in Dewas. Her mother died when she was a child and the accused father too died in prison. She was then sent to the shelter home here. She has three siblings. We sent her body for post mortem after her siblings came to Bhopal.”
In a similar incident, a 24-year-old woman, identified as Neha Malviya, too died after collapsing on the floor in her house in Bajaria area on Friday.
According to the police, she was cooking for her husband, a loco-pilot, who was preparing to go for duty at 3 am, when she collapsed to the floor.
After rushing to the hospital, doctors declared her brought dead. Police said they have registered a matter under section 174 of CrPC.
