A six-year-old boy from Betul, Tarun Sahu, died of dengue in a Bhopal hospital Saturday midnight. It is said to be the first death caused by dengue in the winter season this year in Bhopal division.
According to a report, Sahu was admitted to the Miracle Hospital and his condition was already critical.
The district malaria officer Dr Padmakar Tripathi said this was the first dengue death of the season in Bhopal division. He said the moment the temperature falls the Aedes mosquito, responsible for dengue, would lose its capability to survive and the number of dengue patients would decrease.
Dr Tripathi said the health department has decided to open the District Malaria Laboratory on Sundays and other holidays also.
Meanwhile, another person was diagnosed with dengue on Sunday. The patient, Manjeet, a resident of Raisen Road, is undergoing treatment at the LBS Hospital. With this the total number of dengue patients diagnosed in Bhopal has become 14, which is equal to last year’s cases.
