Eight people, including three members of a family, were killed and 35 others injured after the bus they were travelling in fell into a 25-foot-deep gorge in MP’s Satna district on Monday. The bus was carrying more than 50 passengers.
The incident occurred at Charki valley under Ram Nagar police station of the district. The bus, belonging to Ramgopal Styanaryan Travel, was going to Anuppur from Rewa when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into the gorge at a turn in Charki Valley.
Town inspector of Ram Nagar police station, Dhirendra Singh Chauhan, said the injured passengers had been admitted at hospitals in Deolaundh town of Shahdol district. “Those who are critical are being referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa,” he said.
He said the identity of only four deceased could be established so far. The deceased, who have been identified, are Rohani Barman, 35, his wife Resham Barman, 30, and daughter Sristhi Barman, 4, all residents of Beohari town and Ramdas Nigam, 62, a resident of Shahdol town.
“Identity of rest of the deceased and injured is being established,” Chauhan said.
