Congress leader and former MP minister Raja Pateria on Tuesday said Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) victory in Delhi is a bigger crisis for Congress than it is for the BJP.
Pateria said AAP's emergence in Delhi would not affect the BJP much, rather the Congress will suffer heavily. "Clearly, there is going to be big polarisation in the politics of the country and it will be AAP against the rest with progressive forces on the side of AAP. The remaining forces viz. the right-wing supporters would rally behind the BJP and this will make it increasingly difficult for the Congress in coming days," he said.
The former minister also said Kejriwal's politics struck chord with the voters. "There wasn't any difference between his words and his actions apart from his simplicity in public life. The AAP workers have faith in their leader and this is immensely important for any party because the workers drive a party.
"When workers have full faith in their leader, it helps the party," he added. Pateria said the results of Delhi election signal that the Congress may suffer more loss in the future than the BJP. Hence, it is time for the party to understand the situation and take action.
