AIIMS Bhopal set to perform minor surgeries now

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal is all set to perform minor surgeries, as the under-construction operation theater (OT) of the institute would be completed within next 15 days.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal is all set to perform minor surgeries, as the under-construction operation theater (OT) of the institute would be completed within next 15 days.

"We are running the inpatient department (IPD) at the hospital successfully for the past one month. However till now, the IPD patients of only medicine department were admitted in the hospital. After the OT would become functional, we would be able to admit the IPD patients of surgery department also," said director AIIMS Bhopal Dr Sandeep Kumar.

Meanwhile, the one-month-old IPD of the hospital is getting good response. According to Dr Kumar around 20-25 patients undergo treatment at a time in the IPD.

The much-awaited IPD of AIIMS Bhopal was inaugurated on August 15. The IPD contains 130 beds. The work on increasing the capacity of the IPD to 500 beds is on. The facility is expected to be completed by December 20, so that it can be inaugurated by December 25, on the occasion of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday.
