Sarpanch hopeful in Bhind village shot
A 44-year-old woman was shot dead in Badpura village of Bhind district on Tuesday evening. Malti Sharma was contesting the panchayat election. She had filed her nomination for the sarpanch's post on Tuesday.
Sub divisional officer of police (SDOP) Chandrabhan Singh Tomar said that Malti Sharma was returning from a function when two persons fired on her and fled away from the spot. Sharma fell on the ground and died on the spot.
It is suspected that enmity may be the cause behind her murder, though possibility of it being linked to the forthcoming elections, can't be ruled out either. Police have registered a case and further investigation was on.
