An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was allegedly beaten up by a woman and her friends in Kolar on Monday evening. The ASI, RB Singh, has suffered serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kolar.
The woman (28), who lives in Kolar locality, had earlier lodged a complaint against the ASI Singh alleging rape at Kolar police station and the matter is under investigation.
Thereafter, Singh, who was posted at MP Nagar police station, was attached to district reserve police line. In his statement to police, Singh alleged that the woman called him to MP Nagar on the pretext of settling down the issue between him and her.
Later, she, along with her friends, took Singh to her home in Kolar and beat him up with iron rods and lathis. According to police sources, Singh's both legs and backbone were fractured. He has also sustained injuries on other parts of the body.
Singh, who somehow managed to escape, reached Kolar police station and lodged a complaint. He was later rushed to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
"We have recorded ASI's statement and started the investigation. He has accused a woman and three persons in the matter," said town inspector of Kolar police station, Akhilesh Mishra.
He further said the woman and one of her friends Dheeraj, a resident of Bairagarh, have been identified and they would be rounded for interrogation soon.
About a year ago, the same woman had also lodged a rape complaint against Dheeraj at Chunnabhatti police station. But, she settled down the issue with him. Mishra further said the woman had strong criminal records.
