Bhopal AIIMS will be a pioneer in medical tourism: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, will play a pioneering role in the field of medical tourism, said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here on Tuesday. Chouhan was speaking on the occasion of the foundation day of AIIMS, Bhopal.

The chief minister said facilities like liver transplant and many other facilities would be available in AIIMS, Bhopal, which would attract patients from other parts of the country.

Chouhan said Bhopal's AIIMS should become a guiding force for the medical sector and set medical standards in the country and abroad. He said medical practice was not a profession, but a mission to save lives.

He said the credibility of AIIMS in the field of medicine was much more than any other private hospital in the country. Underlining the importance of research, he said students should work with dedication and devotion. He said every patient should be given equal importance by the doctors.

State BJP president Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan, MP Alok Sanjar, director of AIIMS Patna professor Girish Kumar Singh and AIIMS Jodhpur's director professor Sanjeev Mishra were also present on the occasion.

On this occasion, institute's director professor Sandeep Kumar presented the institute's annual report. Dr Kumar said the institute was undertaking a lot in the field of research. In all, 220 research papers of faculties of AIIMS Bhopal were published in journals.
