Manish Pushkale, the acclaimed painter from Bhopal, after showcasing his works across India, has now mesmerised the French art lovers through his paintings.
Pushkale’s paintings, inaugurated at the Museum of Guéthary in Biarritz town of France on Saturday, received rave reviews.
A book on Pushkale’s art ‘Manish Pushkale – The Painter of Light’ was released by Dr Mohan Kumar, Indian ambassador in France on September 12. Eminent writers, critics and artists like Ashok Vajpeyi, Syed Haidar Raza, Zak Dupin, Jerome Nutor have contributed to the book.
“One thing which is common in India and France is the love and dedication for arts. Though France is a known place to me, still every time, it is altogether a different experience. I feel responsible because when you represent your country, it is a serious affair. Our country is so wide and plural and so is France. My tryst with art in France is 15 years old. It’s like a second home to me,” said Manish while talking to HT on phone from Biarritz.
The inaugural day of the exhibition featured a special delegation comprising the mayors of Paris, Avinyo, Madrid, Venice, Vienna and Brussels.
“The French society respects any country’s artistic and aesthetical capacities. There are so many important people here, and when they discuss about Indian arts, they do it like experts. I feel proud being a representative of my country here,” Pushkale said.
Born in Bhopal in 1973, Manish Pushkale is a trained geologist. He studied art at the Art College in Bhopal and acquired his Master’s degree. Most of Manish’s works are abstract, which he has displayed at several eminent art galleries across the world.
The exhibition ‘The painter of light’ will be on till October 29 in the same gallery in Biarritz.
