A Bhopal-based builder was arrested by Nishapura police on Sunday in connection with a fraud case, in which he along with a Delhi-based construction company duped over 100 people to tune of Rs 25 crore in the name of a housing project.
He was produced in the court and sent to police remand for three days.
Superintendent of police (SP), North, Arvind Saxena said a group of people had lodged a complaint against a builder Ashok Goyal, the owner of Goyal Builders and Developers. "The complainants had purchased houses in Neo City but were not provided houses on time," Saxena told HT.
He said after preliminary investigation a case was registered at Nishatpura police station against the builders and its partner company Neo City Developers.
According to information, the two firms had launched a housing project and were supposed to develop over 150 houses. According to the agreement, Goyal builders will provide land and Neo City Developers will construct the houses.
"Both got into dispute over the profit shares of the projects," said sources. SP Saxena said, "Both Goyal builders and Neo City Builders have duped to the tune of over Rs 25 crore from over 100 people."
Ashok Goyal, who has developed several houses in Bhopal, is also wanted by Economic Offence Wings in a similar scam case. The EOW team on Sunday approached the district police and informed them that they also wanted to interrogate Goyal.
