"Be stern with criminals so that they remain scared but ensure that while dealing with citizens, you should be soft and shun the hot-headed style," chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan instructed the policemen on Saturday.
Chouhan was speaking at the programme at the inauguration of the newly built police headquarters (PHQ) building, which has been constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 50 crore.
The new building has all the halls under CCTV camera surveillance and has smoke and fire detectors. The building houses a confidential wing for the security of documents. The CM also lauded the law and order situation in state, saying it was the reason that investors were drawn to Madhya Pradesh.
He also said that the road behind PHQ (from Khatlapura to Machhlighar) would also be developed. Impressed by the new structure, home minister Babulal Gaur said in lighter vein that he should also be allotted a chamber in the building.
