Bhopal: Bike-borne robbers target businessman, escape with Rs 4.35 lakh

A gang of unidentified motorcycle-borne youths robbed an elderly businessman of Rs 4.35 lakh after throwing chilli powder in his eyes at Rachna Nagar in Bhopal on Wednesday.

The complainant, Murli Manohar Agarwal, was going to the bank to deposit cash, when the robbers waylaid him on the way. One of them threw chilli powder in his eyes. As he fell, they snatched his bag which contained Rs 4.35 lakh apart from some cheques.

Two bystanders tried to intervene but the robbers took out a dagger which scared the former. Subsequently, the robbers sped off. The looters had come riding separate bikes. Police officials reached the spot soon after the incident.

The CCTV footage is being examined to identify the looters. The police said hunt was on to catch the robbers.

Agarwal owns a factory in Mandideep.
