The Congress has dared chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to recommend a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.
The party said if Chouhan had got a clean-chit as claimed by him and his party, then he should have no hitches in demanding for a CBI inquiry in the case.
Congress said the BJP leaders were falsely claiming that they had got clean-chit in the PEB scam by wrongly interpreting the court's observation, and were trying to create confusion through their statements.
The MP high court had on April 24 endorsed the Special Investigation Team's findings that the evidence submitted by whistle blower Prashant Pandey (Mr X) against the chief minister was forged.
In an official statement, the Congress on Monday said if the BJP and its leaders were clean, then they should tell under which government Laxmikant Sharma was the minister.
Sharma, former state higher education minister, is in jail in connection with the scam.
"A host of BJP leaders, their kin and associates are either booked or wanted in connection with this scam," said Congress' chief spokesperson KK Mishra, who demanded that the state government recommend a CBI inquiry into the scam.
