A 23-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped in a village on the outskirts of the state capital late on Friday, police said Sunday.

The case was reported from Gunga village and the victim, who works as a labourer, has named an acquaintance of her husband and four others in her complaint.

She said she was alone at home on Friday night when one Mustaq Khan knocked on her doors shortly after midnight. Since she knew Khan, she opened the door following which four others – identified as Jagdish, Bablu Kushwaha, Sonu Kushwaha and Manoj Mehra – barged in and assaulted her, she said in her complaint.

The woman also said that she was threatened to keep the incident under wraps. All five suspects are absconding.

In a separate incident, a minor girl accused a youth of rape after she reportedly became pregnant and he refused to marry her. The girl, 17, is a resident of Indira Nagar and works as a domestic help.

She named her neighbour in her complaint and said the two had been maintaining a physical relationship after he ostensibly promised to wed her. Police said that a case had been registered but a pregnancy test and medical examination to determine rape was yet to done.
