Bhopal: Grandparents break arm of 2-month-old infant

bhopal Updated: Feb 01, 2016 09:33 IST

A couple broke an arm of their two-month-old grandson whom they purportedly had not welcomed for being born out of wedlock in Rewa district on Sunday, police said.

According to the Baikunthpur police, the infant’s maternal grandparents had also beaten up their 16-year-old daughter for having an ‘illicit affair’ with an outsider.

Moved by the plight of the minor girl and her infant, a local NGO had approached the Baikunthpur police to rescue the duo and got them admitted to a nearby hospital for medical relief.

Reports suggested that the infant’s grandparents had married off their daughter about five months ago after which she was living with her in-laws.

The girl’s misfortune began after she reportedly delivered the baby a few months after her wedding, police said, adding that the girl’s in-laws threw her and the infant out of their house.

Left nowhere, the girl returned to her maternal house where she was allegedly abused and beaten by her parents after knowing the circumstances under which she was disowned by her in-laws.

After lodging a case, the Baikunthpur police are looking into all options available with them before taking the next course of action.
