Minister of urban administration and housing Maya Singh on Thursday disclosed that the metro rail project implementation in Indore and Bhopal is expected by 2021-22, refusing to underline any specific time. She, however, admitted that the agency for implementation of the project is yet to be finalised.
The minister’s written reply came to a query raised by former chief minister Babulal Gaur during the Question Hour. Gaur sought to know about the work done on the metro rail project in Bhopal and Indore and the status of loan to be given by foreign agencies. He also sought to know why Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) refused to give loan to the state government for the project.
In reply to Gaur’s question, the minister informed him in her written reply that so far Rs 26.95 crore had been spent on the Rs 15000 project. Of this amount, Rs 25.21 crore was spent on a pre-feasibility study and on the preparation of detailed project report.
The minister detailed the discussions between JICA and the state government on the loan and said JICA had not refused to give the loan to the state government.
On the agency which would implement the project she said the agency would be finalised after the central government’s approval.
